…until it melts.

The conference that I went to was interesting with a lot of networking and corporate sessions. However the week also offered lots of sunshine (it only rained twice for about ten minutes each), good food, beautiful Art Deco architecture, some shopping and also a visit to the Miami Ink Tattoo Studio where I meet Ami himself. During the conference I stayed at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, a great four star hotel with good service and their very own Starbucks (Caramel Macchiato *yum*). The Eden Roc is also right next to the famous Fontainebleau Hotel where James Bond and Goldfinger played a game of gin rummy, so of course I had to visit the Bleau Bar for a vodka martini, shaken not stirred

1408 [Based on a story by Stephen King and directed by Mikael Håfström]
The Plot: Mike Enslin (John Cusack), that specializes in investigating paranormal occurrences, gets a postcard telling him to check in to room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel in New York. He gets intrigued and decides to do it. When he gets there the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson) try to talk him out of the idea and explains that people go insane and die in the room (cliché!!). Mike Enslin doesn’t care or believe in what manager says, and checks into the room anyway. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror.
Verdict: Surrealistic nightmare but with wrong ending. Three Muppets.

Drag me to hell [Directed by Sam Raimi]
The Plot: Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is responsible for loans in a bank and expects to be promoted to the open position of assistant manager. When a Mrs Ganush (Lorna Raver), an old gypsy woman that has been evicted by the bank, requests a third extension of her mortgage Christine denies the loan to prove her boss that she can take tough decisions, and to secure her new position. Mrs Ganush begs for the loan but Christine shames the woman calling the security. In the night, Christine is stalked by Mrs Ganush in the parking lot and they end up in a struggle. Mrs Ganush then removes a button from Christine’s coat, curses it, returns the button to her and vanishes. Christine now have three days before she’s will be dragged into hell.
Verdict: It sucked! Neither fun or scary, not worth the time. One Muppet.

Vacancy [Directed by Nimród Antal]
The Plot: David and Amy Fox (Luke Wilson & Kate Beckinsale) find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere when their car breaks down. Luckily, they come across a motel with a TV to entertain them during their overnight stay. However, there’s something very strange and familiar about the bad slasher movies that the motel broadcasts for its guests enjoyment. They all appear to be filmed in the very same room they occupy!
Verdict: Pretty ok idea but badly executed, everything was reviled too fast. One Muppet.

but today I’m also sharing the fun
First up is Failbooking.com, finally Facebook is fun!

Epic Win FTW is yet another comical voting blog, but this time with a more nerdy twist.

I actually found two new game plates during the holidays but didn’t have time to blog them, so now here they come. The first one is the predecessor to one of my favorite games. Jet Set Radio is an old Sega game that was developed by Smilebit for the Dreamcast console. The second plate is yet another EVE plate, a POS is a Player Owned Starbase/Structure within New Eden (the expansive universe where EVE Online is set).
